Holy BOS! Arts and Music Festival / Celebrating Brooklyn / June 1-3, 2012

This weekend is Art Nerd paradise in Bushwick- when all the artists open their studio doors, along with a ton of great events, music, films, food and fun stuff.  Aside from getting a first hand look into the private studios of tons of artists (including a bunch of my friends), the Holy BOS! Festival is also something not to miss.

First of all, the fest is in the awesome Bobby Redd Project Space- a giant, gorgeous church on Bushwick Avenue. But aside from amazing historic venue, Holy BOS goes beyond the art-viewing process, and invites an array of experiential events.

Friday through Sunday night, visitors can experience films, music, art, food and the like in the church and its adjacent lot, totaling 27,000 square feet of festival. Tickets are available for individual events, but I recommend the weekend pass, so you can come and go as you please, and not miss a thing.

Some highlights I’ll be checking out are the NewVillager Simulacra Architectural Video Mapping Project by Ryan Uzilevksy, which meshes procession symbols with the fest’s neo-gothic location, and sound design by Sky White Tiger (if you haven’t seen them yet, you really should, great band). I’m also jazzed on the Cosmic yoga class inside the church, and the Gospel Brunch by Secret Restaurant. Oh! And the Transfigurations mini opera. Okay, so I’ll be getting a weekend pass, that one is for sure.
