Lydia Emily Paints a Mural for Change in LA’s Skid Row
Located in downtown Los Angeles on the side of an auto repair shop (846 6th Street), the mural reminds us of the some of the uglier sides of human activities.
Depicted on the mural is 28 year old Jessica Midkiff – a sex trafficking survivor who now mentors young girls in similar crisis at the The Mary Magdalene Project.
Hummingbirds hovers near Jessica’s portrait where red ribbons flow across the mural with the words: “I AM A SURVIVOR OF SEX TRAFFICKING. I HOPE YOU NEVER LOSE YOUR SENSE OF WONDER”.
The mural was painted by LA artists Lydia Emily, Van Arno and Margaret Leahy – sponsored by Gucci’s non-profit, Chime for Change, which raises awareness for girls & women’s empowerment.
