Kenny Scharf Studio Visit

Inside Kenny Scharf’s LA Studio
“The Art Nerd LA Week of Kenny” continues with photos of our trip to pop art icon Kenny Scharf’s LA Studio! It was a very interesting day as we saw a couple #karbombz, artwork from the 1980s unpacked and out for photography and many pieces of his “Lixo” aka brazilian beach trash chandeliers/sculptures.

Resurfaced and discolored from overexposure to the sun, sea and sand, these otherwise discarded objects have long been part of Scharf’s studio practice.

While we were poking around, we asked Kenny’s Studio Manager what different items were and the truth came out. “Kenny just can’t help himself…” especially when it comes to his signature cartoony do-it-yourself-ness to office supplies 🙂

Old phone/fax at Kenny Scharf’s LA Studio
There were old office phones, polaroid cameras, mini-squirtz, several puddles of space vomit…
a few paintings…
Even some interesting wall and garden additions outside…
There was even the embellished vacuum cleaner that he used to walk along Broadway in and around Times Square like a pet in the 1980s when he was living with Keith Haring near Bryant Park!
