Dear Diary: Nimai Kesten
Art Nerd LA has been on the scene meeting some pretty awesome LA-based artists. Last week we did a studio visit with artist Nimai Kesten and this week we have a Dear Diary from him! Nimai hails from New York but has lived and worked in LA for over 10 years. He is a self-taught conceptual artist that explores the relationship between art, politics, religion and institutional corruption. Here’s a day in the life of Nimai and you should check out his work online: nimaikesten.com [my favorite piece is his polished bronze gun crucifix]

wake up morning smoothie to start my day

I checked the waves in Venice and decided to go for a surf to start my day off

After getting out of the water I noticed tar on the beach. I often collect tar to incorporate into my pieces

a pile of tar collected today walking back from my surf session

transferring tar to use on various pieces

back in the studio working on my new piece

by request a photo of me in the studio in front of some of my portraits
Please help my friend Nimai get seen @SCOPEArtShow Miami 2013 & win $20,000! https://nimaikesten.see.me/ #ArtTakesMiami cc @SeeMeCommunity
