Art Nerd New York | Los Angeles

UNIQUE LA makes locally made design and art available to Angelinos this Saturday + Sunday (May 11/12 2013)

The show was created by Sonja Rasula in order to make locally made goods available to the public and thus give love to small businesses, and ultimately help grow the US economy. Sonja’s mission: “I want to bring modern Made-in-America design to the masses. My goals are to help designers and small businesses grow and become sustainable, to support the local economy, and to teach shoppers the value of conscious consumerism.”

Every show UNIQUE  partners with a non-profit donating 10% of ticket sales. This particular show is supporting 826LA – which helps kids 6-18 with reading/writing skills by providing tutoring, workshops and help to ESL students.

Attendees can look forward to scoping out over 350 carefully curated vendors, a UNIQUE LA tote for the first 5000 people through (incentive to roll out of bed early), unlimited entry for both days, free cocktails (incentive to stay late?), free DIY workshops, photobooth portraits at the Oh Snap Studios Photo Booth. Even the food is curated, featuring LA’s favorite restaurants and food trucks.

In short: it’s the dawn of summer and time to get geared up for new homes and for long days (+ nights) of fun. I’m totally game for supporting our beloved local creative community and YOU should definitely get on this too.
