How can artists and the arts transform the future city for the better?  This weekend, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) is teaming up with The Institute for the Future (IFTF) to explore answers this question by hosting an arts and ideas festival, Open City/Art City.  Open City/Art City will be a day-long festival, from 11am to 9pm this Saturday, engaging the public through an inspirational blend of art installations, speakers, participatory activities, performances, music, food and play.

Topics that will be discussed at Open City/Art City include:

  • Uniting Civic Technology with Civic Arts Practice
  • Digital Divide, Inclusive Technology Movement
  • “Re-engineering” the Relationship between Art and Technology in the Bay Area
  • Economic Shifts and Gaps – Adressing Equity-Changes in Neighborhoods and its Impacts

The goal of Open City/Art City is to imagine how we can build a future city that is more open, more creative and more inclusive.  So come out this Saturday and be part of the discussion!  Did I mention entry is free if you RSVP?
