Win a Ride on Doug Aitken’s Station to Station

Curious about the Station to Station train that is crossing the country from NY to Oakland this month? There are a few chances available that will allow for people to join Doug Aitken and other artists and musicians on board the train that will stop in nine cities along the way for one-night only events.

For a donation of at least $10 and up to the Station to Station Cultural Fund initiative on Crowdrise, donors receive raffle entries to win a chance to ride on the Station to Station train, as well as other cool rewards including limited edition t-shirts and posters signed by artists and musicians. Also, the first 10 people to donate or raise $3,500 in support of the Station to Station Cultural Fund will win an exclusive opportunity to ride the Station to Station train and two free event tickets.

Station to Station is also offering a limited number of $5,000 tickets to ride one train leg for purchase though Artspace.

At the center of Station to Station sits the Station to Station Cultural Fund, which enables artists of all disciplines to produce significant new work that advances public understanding of creative expression and introduces new definitions of art and culture to a global audience.  Station to Station was conceived as a 21st century liquid institution that is nomadic and shape shifts as it moves from project to project, partner to partner—whether during the Station to Station happenings in September (for instance, the fund will allow for the first appearance of Peter Coffin’s UFO in the US when it flies over the Barstow happening onSept 24) or innovative programming that will be exhibited next year at its partner institutions (MoMA PS1, Carnegie Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Walker Art Center, SITE Santa Fe, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), the Sundance Institute, and Arcosanti Institute). The Fund is made up of donations through Crowdrise and all ticket sale proceeds from each of the nine Happenings, as well as proceeds from art created for and during Station to Station that will be auctioned off through Artspace and donations from corporate partners. The Station to Station Cultural Fund is being administered through Photo-Based Art, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that publishes Blind Spot magazine.
