REVS Sculpture
In the early 1990s, reclusive graffiti legend REVS put his name up everywhere- huge white letters all over the city to New Jersey, some which still remain. But after an arrest in 1994, he skipped town for Alaska.. He has had only one gallery show- in Philadelphia in 2000, with the sole purpose of raising money to pay his lawyers. Other than that, the artist isn’t interested in selling his work, and still maintains a low, if not anonymous, profile.
In 2005, Revs reinvented himself, translating his graffiti into metal sculpture. He has since installed over 100 of them around the city. Most have been stolen, but this one in DUMBO is extremely bolted…it looks like it’ll be sticking around.
