Put Ian Schrager’s EDITION on Your Miami Radar
Miami Miami Miami. I have so much going on, but so excited to be able to see stuff this year! I’m really looking forward to checking out Ian Schrager’s new hotel, The Miami Beach EDITION – not just because its a fancy hotel, but they’ve also curated a bunch of cool events and exhibitions for Basel. I tend to get art fair-ed out, and prefer the speed of pop up exhibitions (especially if they are pool side!) The three Bill Powers-curated exhibitions look top-notch- can’t wait to check them out. Put these on your Miami radar!

- EXCLUSIVE ARTISTS DESIGNED BOWLING BALLS
In the hotels’ one stop destination Basement, which houses an ice rink, nightclub club and bowling alley, the latter will feature unique bowling balls designed by the following artists:
Blair Thurman
Blair Thurman’s inaugural show with Gagosian Gallery opened November 1st on Madison Avenue in New York. His paintings and light sculpture often make reference to American car culture; the red, off-white and blue design of his bowling ball speak to that interest.
Jules de Balincourt
Jules de Balincourt is a Brooklyn-based painter who exhibits with Victoria Miro in London, Salon 94 in New York and Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery in Paris. His exuberant use of color is apparent both in his abstract work and portraiture. His bowling ball, “Flower Power,” is a vibrant example of his signature starbursts.
Will Cotton
Will Cotton is represented by Mary Boone Gallery in New York. Known for his lush candy-scapes and evocative portraits of women, Cotton is known beyond the art world for his 2010 LP cover of Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. If you ever wondered what the Spiral Jetty would look like as an over sized lollipop, check out Will Cotton’s bowling ball.
Daniel Heidkamp
Daniel Heidkamp shows with White Columns and half gallery in New York. He makes observational oil paintings radical in their traditional use of en plein air. For Daniel Heidkamp’s design, he painted a watercolor of a live nude model floating in a sky of blue.
