For Immediate Release

MIAMI, FLA. Friends of the Miami Marine Stadium are pleased to present the ART History Mural Project, which will bring contemporary street artists to the historical stadium to create site-specific murals over the course of 2014. Supported by FMMS, the project is curated by renowned stencil artist and muralist, Logan Hicks, who has invited a roster of international artists to legally paint within the legendary walls.  The first round of artists will commence on June 28th, including Doze Green, Elbow Toe, Evoca1, Ian Kuali’I, Joe Iurato, Luis Berros, RISK and Rone. Although closed to the public, these incredible murals will be presented through extensive documentation, as well as an archival print release. Proceeds from the print release, which will be sold through, will directly support the Miami Marine Stadium’s $30 million renovation project. Paint and other art materials have been graciously supplied by Liquitex. Print production is being coordinated by 1xRun, and the project is being partially underwritten by The National Trust for Historic Preservation and Crescent Cardboard, the makers of RENDR graffiti paper.

Once the premier spot to see a concert or a boat race, the long abandoned Miami Marine Stadium has unknowingly reinvented itself as an iconic venue for street artists, who have flocked to the site from around the world to paint with Biscayne Bay as their backdrop . These artists, who saw the Miami Marine Stadium as a muse, are responsible for breathing life back into the forgotten architectural gem, and inspired the planned renovation by the Friends of the Miami Marine Stadium into a usable venue and park for the city. The ART History Mural Project was created to acknowledge artists’ role in the story of the Miami Marine Stadium, and will further weave art into its future.

Existing murals have already been painted by Abstrk, Axel Void, Hox, Pixel Pancho, Stinkfish and Tatiana Suarez. Artists will continue to paint over the summer of 2014, with another group of renowned international artists painting together on September 6, 2014. The ART History Mural Project will culminate in a print show at Miami’s Gregg Sheinbaum Gallery in September, and a final art show of original works in December during Art Basel Miami week at a location to be announced.
