Matthew Rose’s ‘Letters’

In an era where high-tech gadgets serve as communication channels, anything written seems archaic and out-of-touch. Emails and video conferencing have replaced written letters. Newspapers and magazines are moving in a digital direction while tangible novels can be found on E-readers and computer tablets. As you can tell, all things paper is becoming all things digital.

Matthew Rose, a Parisian-based American artist, reminds us all of the beauty of the pen and paper in his exhibition at the Converge Gallery in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He mailed 333 collage and writing works to the Williamsport gallery where it was converted into a display. The exhibition consists of letters, texts, pictures, and collages of everything in between.

Here’s a glimpse of what Rose sent to Williamsport.
