LMCC Open Studios This Weekend!
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council is a magical organization that fosters countless artists’ careers in this tough city, by staging exhibitions, events and even giving workspace in their artists-in-residence program. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they are opening their studio doors at One Liberty Plaza, a collection of artist studios that can’t help remind me of the old Coenties Slip Group that included James Rosenquist and Ellsworth Kelly not too far from there. There are some great and notable artists working out of there including Heather Hart (remember her awesome giant- rooftop installation at the Brooklyn Museum?) and Jacolby Satterwhite (his work is at the Whitney Biennial, his videos are cray, he is a force to experience). Best part- its free! You’ve just got to RSVP. Get in there and experience museum-quality work, right in the artists’ own workplace.
