Les Ballets de Faile- Ce Soir!

it has finally arrived- my turn to go to Les Ballets de Faile! In the time honored tradition of meshing visual arts with the ballet (Picasso’s banner from Mercure still hangs), street art duo Faile takes on the New York City Ballet for just 2 performances (on in February which I couldn’t get tickets for, and tonight)

What’s more awesome is that even if you weren’t lucky enough to nab one of the $29 tickets, the work they’ve produced will be on view for the public in June!

NYCB Art Series commissions contemporary artists to create original works of art inspired by our unique energy, spectacular dancers, and one-of-a-kind repertory of ballets. New York City Ballet has worked with leading and emerging artists throughout the Company’s history — luminaries like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Julian Schnabel. We are proud to continue this tradition by partnering with Brooklyn-based artists FAILE for the inaugural year of Art Series.

FAILE’s installation,  Les Ballets De Faile, is presented in two parts during 2013. The first,  the epic Tower of FAILE on the Promenade, was created for the Art Series performances on Friday, February 1. A second, completely new installation of FAILE Wheels will be on display at the Wednesday, May 29 performance. On these dates, every seat in the house is available for just $29, and each audience member will receive a limited-edition work to take home, made specifically for this event.

Free public viewing hours June 6-9, 2013:
Thursday – Friday: 12-5 PM
Saturday: 10 AM – 12 PM
Sunday: 10 AM – 1 PM
To inquire about any of the FAILE pieces shown as part of the NYCB Art Series Les Ballets de Faile installation, please contact FAILE via email.
