Garis & Hahn’s Video Salon Entertains You Over the Holidays

Tis the season for galleries to be closed during the holidays, leaving you bored and unsatisfied. The folks at Garis & Hahn (at 263 Bowery) want you to feel fulfilled while they are gone, so they’ve organized an exhibition that projects OUT of the gallery’s facade. Playing each night at sunset until they re-open in January is Eric Corriel’s “Video Salon,” an interactive video installation will simultaneously shoot and display imagery of passersby with custom software programmed by the artist.

Clusters of gilded frames hung salon-style crowd the windows, housing works of art which are – YOU. As visitors and locals comb the streets of New York this holiday season looking for the perfect festive selfie, Corriel’s piece adds a layer of fun and of course art to the quest, giving visitors a moment to become a work of art themselves. But you’d better act fast and quickly snap your moment of glory, because “Video Salon” is every changing, replacing each portrait every few seconds.
