Chris Stain and Billy Mode Muralize Martha Cooper
The sprawling mural on the side of this Boerum Hill building brings to life a photograph taken by Martha Cooper on a corner in the neighborhood in 1978. Lead by artists Chris Stain and Billy Mode, the mural project engaged kids in the community, who helped to paint the 90 paneled mural off site with the arts program Cre8tive YouTH*ink. I love that vintage New York (through the lens of Martha Cooper) is immortalized- in a soaring 80 foot mural.
