LMCC Studios on Governors Island

I love Governors Island– I was the first to hop aboard the first public ferry when it reopened in 2007. Now the island is home to many awesome festivals, but also the artist studios of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Located in the main building right to your right as you get off the ferry (just beyond the bar), the artists in residence get an amazing view of the lower Manhattan skyline with their studios. LMCC often hosts open studios and events- a great excuse to take the boat out to “the island” and enjoy the colonial homes along with some art.
