#PUBLICWORKS BILLBOARD EXHIBITION
I noticed this dope billboard with psychedelic 3-eyed/eared rabbits (err, ‘Rabbbits’) on Temple in the Rampart distric the very first day I lived in this city. Following the trail of digital crumbs led me to learn that it was one of Ron English‘s contributions to The Public Works Exhibition : a 2 part city-wide exhibit that featured handpainted and printed murals on billboards (mostly) by How & Nosm, Insa, Push, Revok, Risk, Ron English, Seen, Shepard Fairey, Trustocorp, WCA Crew, Uglar, and Zes. It was, literally, my entry into the Rabbbit hole of the LA art scene.

This brilliant execution was a collaboration between LA Freewalls and MacDonald Media, exposing commuters, hipsters and hobos alike to some big hitters in contemporary art. Nice too that all the major LA billboard co’s were on board for this (Clear Channel, Regency, Mahlmann, Lamar, Empire, and CBS Outdoor). While the exhibition technically ended at the end of 2012, I have still seen a few of these pieces dangling about and am mad grateful every time I pass them.
