Back in November we published an article about Pushing the Press – an exhibition of Typecraft’s Design Library at A+D Museum in DTLA’s Arts District. It’s a smorgasbord of printed projects over the last 15 years – from traditional bookbinding specimens to limited edition artist books to Brian Roettinger‘s 2007 Sciarc poster that was delivered via post in a vacuum sealed package to be un-crumpled by it’s recipients. The show is arranged by technique – so visitors can easily catch a glimpse of what’s possible using various methods of printing, cutting, binding or foiling. The best part is, it’s an exhibition where users are permitted and encouraged to pick things up and see how they’re made. I don’t even think there’s a security guard to sneak around.
For the remainder of the exhibition, A+D will be hosting a series of events focusing on the theme of print. Check out the list of events offered & get in touch with the kind folks at A+D Museum for more information & sign up. Also let this serve as a reminder that you’ve got a little over a month to revisit the exhibition if you haven’t already. It’s really worth checking out if you have any interest in print design. The first in the series is this evening – if you’re looking for an educational Friday night activity (p.s. there will be will be wine).
