Ambulante California is in its 2nd week with a series of documentary film screenings at different locations around town. Ambulante California is an extension of Ambulante Global, a non-profit organization founded in Mexico in 2005 by Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, Pablo Cruz and Elena Fortes. Ambulante supports documentary film as a tool for social and cultural transformation.  Each year, Ambulante organizes an international film festival and tours it throughout Mexico for three months.   The Festival promotes workshops, talks, seminars and networking panels in addition to its slate of documentary films.  This is the inaugural year for the California arm of the Festival.  Screenings are free and take place in unique spaces – universities, high schools, and museums, to community centers, parks and makeshift outdoor spaces.

Don’t forget that this Saturday is FREE DAY at the Gamble House with The Machine Project, so there is no excuse not to get there.  Secret conveyor-belt catering, human waterfalls, an interactive archaeological dig, a “public theater of pajama clad intellectuals,” black latex cat suits, and free self-guided tours of the home.  What more can you ask for?
